Shearling Shepherds hut occupies an elevated position providing exceptional views out over the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty including the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and its castle.

 

The hut is an ideal base providing easy access to explore the Northumbrian Coast and Countryside direct from your door with direct access onto to the Northumberland Coastal Route which makes a good walking or cycle route to local attractions including several listed below. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne (10 miles) is accessed via a tidal causeway from Beal, only a 10 minute drive away. The Northumberland Coastal Path and St Oswald’s Way footpath actually pass through the farm within short walking distance of the hut.

 

Budle Bay (1 mile), Bamburgh Castle and beach (4 miles), the seaside town of Seahouses (7.5 miles) and Beadnel Bay Harbour (9 miles) are all coastal destinations accessible within a 20 minute drive along the picturesque coastal driving route. These villages all provide a range of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. The Farne Island nature reserve is accessible by boat from Seahouses, here you can see seals, puffins, dolphins and many other sea birds.

 

A 20 minute drive inland will take you to Chillingham Castle (11 miles), Alnwick Castle, treehouse and gardens (16 miles) and the picturesque villages of Ford & Etal (16 miles) to name a few.

For the walkers:

St Cuthbert’s Way, St Oswald’s Way and the Northumbrian Coastal Path can all be joined at their various stages near to the village of Belford. Further inland, the Cheviot Hill range provide excellent walks and viewpoints from where you can enjoy 360 degree views of the picturesque landscape.

For the cyclists:

The 120 mile Sandstone Way cycle route is a fabulous way to see more of the area. There are also numerous country lanes and bridleways to explore. There is secure storage available for your bike upon request should you require it.

The hut is situated approximately 1.5 miles from the village of Belford where you can pick up your every day essentials from from the well equipped village Co op/Post Office. Alternatively a more extensive range of amenities, including large supermarkets, can be found in Berwick-upon-Tweed or Alnwick, both only a 20 minute drive away.

City visits:

The city of Edinburgh is easily accessible by being only 45 minutes away by train from Berwick Railway station. Newcastle can be accessed by car within one hour.

Getting around:

A car is advised due to the rural location. There is private parking space for 2 cars adjacent to the hut. The site provides direct access on to the Coastal driving route between Alnmouth and Lindisfarne and various places between.

From coffee shops to fish & chip take aways, to pub lunches, fine restaurants and everything in between, there are so many places to choose from in the various towns and villages near by so there is always something for everyone!

 

Handcrafted and fully insulated, Shearling Shepherds hut is able to be enjoyed all year round. The hut has been cleverly designed and tastefully decorated providing a high level of comfort for the duration of your stay allowing you to experience nature in luxury.

 

The hut is designed to maximise space during the day time with a large pull out table and two pull out benches to provide a seated dining area which could also be used as a desk.

 

The kitchen area provides a gas oven with a 4 ring hob and an under the counter fridge/freezer. Crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided to enable you to cook your own meals, if you so wish.

 

There is space for 2 people in a king size bed with luxury mattress and cotton sheets. The semi enclosed sleeping area with double glazed windows and black out blinds makes for a peaceful nights sleep. The bed is accessed via a step up into a cosy bedroom area with a window looking out towards Holy Island.

 

The en-suite bathroom is situated off the kitchen area and provides an electric rainfall shower, flushing toilet and hand basin.

There are wall mounted electrical plugs and electric lighting throughout the hut for your convenience. A 24 inch wall mounted TV is also provided should you wish to stay indoors.

Inbuilt storage under the bed and in the bench seats means the living area can be clutter free allowing you to enjoy the space provided.

A veranda furnished with a table and 2 chairs allows you to sit outside and enjoy the views. There is a fenced private lawn area for your exclusive use and parking directly adjacent to the hut so you don’t have far to carry your belongings. There is secure storage for bikes in external storage lock up if required.

Due to very little light pollution in this location, you will have the opportunity to witness the stars in the night sky.

A fire pit in the garden can be made available upon request at the time of booking.
